2007 Senior High School Playoffs

It seems like such a short time ago that the Old Blogger posted "Game On!" Blog posts have been few and far between since then, but here we are. The regular season is over for our Senior Predators. Congratulations guys - undefeated in Regular Season Play! Now we roll up our sleeves and get ready for playoffs, starting with a game later today against Scona.

As a well known and respected "Football Pundit", the Old Blogger is aware of the awesome responsibility of predicting the outcome of all the playoff match ups. So here goes - Predictions for the 2007 Playoffs in the Edmonton Public Senior High School Football League.

ROUND ONE MATCH UPS

In round one of the playoffs we have ME Lazerte facing Harry Ainlay at Foote Field later today, at 5:00pm. The Old Blogger hasn't seen Ainlay's team this year, but rumour has it that they have a pretty potent offense. Their quarterback is ranked Number 2 in the league this year for passing yardage. This one should be a good game but you can probably figure on Ainlay winning over Lazerte. I have no idea what the point spread should be - what am I, Jimmy the Greek?

The other 5:00pm game today features our Senior Predators against the Scona Lords at Clarke Park. If you can find a rabid Scona fan willing to bet with you on the outcome of this one, I think you could probably go down to the bank and they'd advance you a reasonable sum to place on Parkland's chances. Let's just say "Predators - by a bunch!"

At 7:30pm we have the other two first round match ups. Over at Foote Field it's Ross Shep vs. McNally. I think you've got to favor the Thunderbirds in this one - Shep's defense has given up just 45 points in the entire regular season. Besides, Ex-Predator Pierce McAllister should be suiting up for the ThunderBirds and I happen to think he's going to be a factor in all their playoff games this year.

The only other game in the first round is Jasper Place and Eastglen. The Old Blogger has watched both of these teams play against our Predators, and this is the one game that's almost too close to call. I'll probably have to go with Eastglen - when they played our guys it was one of the hardest hitting games of the entire season, and they virtually shut down our running game. I hate to go against Dallas Wright (QB of the JP Rebels and an Ex-Spruce Grove Cougar) but I'll pick Eastglen in what will probably be a squeaker.

That's it! Those are your first round match ups, and the winners already identified. Only thing is - we have to go out and play the games. One of the things I like about football is that weird things happen. Weird things like the Old Blogger being wrong.

Game On!

Hi Jay,
Please see the updated response from CDMFA, they are looking for photos and perhaps a write up on the Midgets 2007, can you assist with this request. Would be nice to see the web page updated accordingly.

Darlene  ...

Thanks for your patience as I understand that files such as scores, stories / pictures were never transferred to the New Board and that trying to get to them has been rather difficult. I do know that Craig is now working to make sure that the story and photos are posted ... whatever he can find ... perhaps you have some photos / stories you can share with us, not a problem.

Yes we are in the throws of getting all the Atom Peewee and Bantam Seasons finished so trying to get it all done with just the resources of a few people at the same time has been tough ... again please let others know that this is not something we planned and in fact are working hard to make sure it is up there for everyone to see ...

Thanks,

Wojtek

Jason,
Please see the most recent response from the CDMFA, I have forwarded this message off to Bobbi as well, hopefully we can pull something together so that this web page can be updated accordingly. Thanks Jason

Darlene,

Wojtek forwarded your message. As you can see from my message copied to you, I have been trying to get the information. It seems that the previous executive did not pass the paperwork (i.e. game sheets) on game results from the Midget season, and although I recall that the Outlaws won the game in overtime I cannot recall the score. As well it seems that Eye Captured Images no longer has the photo of the presentation.

Perhaps your coaches and/or parents can help me out. I really want to get this done, but I need some assistance. This should have been done long ago, and I apologize for that. Let’s just say that the transition from the old executive to the present one wasn’t as smooth as the current executive would have wished for.

I need the score, and any photos that you or your parents/coaches/team staff might be able to find. Can you help?

Thanks,
Craig
